Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you and PALJA Inc. ("Palja," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Palja mobile application, the website at palja.com, and all related features, content, and services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, or by accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who can use Palja

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or older if the law where you live requires a higher minimum age for us to process your data without parental consent — for example, 16 in parts of the European Economic Area). By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are legally capable of entering into this agreement. If you use the Service on behalf of someone else, you represent that you are authorized to bind them to these Terms.

3. The service

Palja computes a Four Pillars (사주 / saju) chart from the birth date — and, optionally, time and place — that you provide, and generates readings, daily content, and compatibility interpretations from it, including interpretations of how your chart relates to the charts of friends and public figures. Some features are free; others require a paid subscription ("Palja Pro"). We are constantly improving the Service and may add, change, or remove features at any time.

4. For reflection and entertainment — not advice

Palja is provided for reflection, self-exploration, and entertainment purposes only. Readings, compatibility scores, daily guidance, and all other interpretive content are based on a traditional astrological system and generated in part by automated tools. They are not, and must not be relied on as, medical, mental-health, financial, legal, relationship, career, or any other form of professional advice, and they are not statements of fact about you or any other person. Do not make significant life decisions based on the Service. If you need professional help, consult a qualified professional. Nothing in the Service creates any professional–client relationship.

5. Your account

• Accuracy. You agree to provide accurate information (including your birth details — the Service's output depends on them) and to keep it current.
• Security. You are responsible for your sign-in credentials and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@palja.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
• One person per account. Accounts are personal and may not be sold, transferred, or shared.
• Deletion. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. Deletion permanently removes your account data from our systems, subject to §15 (Privacy). Deleting your account does not automatically cancel subscriptions billed through an app store — cancel those with the store (§10).

6. Your content and information

You retain ownership of the information and content you submit to the Service — your profile details, display name, handle, questions you ask, and messages you send ("Your Content"). You grant Palja a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, display, and distribute Your Content solely as needed to operate, provide, improve, and promote the Service — for example, rendering your chart, showing your profile to people you connect with, generating readings from your inputs, and producing share images you choose to share. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except where content has been shared with others and they retain copies, or where we must keep it for legal reasons.

7. Information about other people

The Service lets you add other people's birth details (for example, a friend or partner) to see compatibility readings. When you do, you promise that you have that person's permission, or are otherwise lawfully entitled, to share their information with us. Charts and readings about people who are not Palja users are visible only to you, unless that person later joins and connects with you. Public-figure charts on the Service are derived from publicly available birth records, are unofficial, and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the person portrayed.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break any law, or infringe anyone's rights, in connection with the Service;
• Impersonate any person, or register a handle in bad faith (including squatting the name of another person or brand);
• Harass, threaten, abuse, or defame anyone, or use readings about another person to harass them;
• Upload content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative, or that violates another person's privacy;
• Access the Service by automated means (scraping, bulk querying), probe or disrupt our systems, or circumvent rate limits, paywalls, or security measures;
• Reverse-engineer the Service or use it to build a competing dataset or product;
• Abuse referral, invite, or promotional programs (for example, with fake or duplicate accounts);
• Resell the Service or any content from it without our written permission.

We may investigate violations and take any action we consider appropriate, including removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, and reporting to law enforcement.

9. Social features and public pages

Palja includes social features: following, a friends "Circle," shared compatibility readings, and public profile pages at palja.com. Your birth date, time, and place are never shown publicly — public and shared surfaces show only your chart and derived persona. You control your page's visibility in Privacy settings. Content other users share with you reflects their inputs and our automated interpretations, not our views; we do not endorse it. If someone is bothering you, you can block them, and you can report abuse to support@palja.com.

10. Subscriptions and payments

• Palja Pro. Paid subscriptions unlock additional features and content. Prices, plans (e.g., monthly or annual), and included features are shown at purchase and may change for future billing periods with notice.
• Where you buy decides who bills you. Subscriptions bought inside the app are sold by Apple (or, where offered, Google) and governed by that store's terms. Subscriptions bought on the web are sold by PALJA Inc. as merchant of record, processed by our payment provider. Either way we never see or store your payment card details.
• Prices and currency. Current prices are published at palja.com/pricing. Palja is priced per country, so the amount charged is the amount shown for your region at checkout, including any applicable tax.
• Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period — annually or monthly, as chosen — at the price then applicable, unless cancelled before the renewal date.
• Cancellation. Cancel a store subscription in your Apple or Google subscription settings; the app links you there. Cancel a web subscription from Settings in the app or by writing to support@palja.com. Cancellation stops future renewals — you keep Pro access through the end of the period you paid for.
• Refunds. Our Refund Policy governs and states the rules in full. In short: for web purchases we refund an unused subscription within 14 days, an unintended renewal within 30, and prorate an annual subscription partway through — readings already unlocked are delivered content, so a heavily-used subscription is prorated rather than refunded outright. App Store purchases are decided by Apple under its own policy; we will advocate for you, but the decision is theirs. Nothing in these Terms limits refund or withdrawal rights you have under the law where you live, including the EU and UK statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase.
• Founding / promotional pricing. If we offer founding or other promotional pricing at or after launch, it will apply for the period stated in the offer and may be limited-time; the terms shown at purchase control.
• Trials and free grants. We may offer free trials, referral rewards, or courtesy Pro access at our discretion; these carry no cash value and we may modify or end such programs at any time.

11. Referrals and promotions

We may reward you for inviting friends (for example, temporary Pro access for you and the person you invite). Rewards have no cash value, may be limited per account, and may be revoked in cases of abuse (§8). Program details shown in the app at the time control, and we may change or end referral programs at any time.

12. Palja's intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, the structure and presentation of readings, and all content we or our tools generate — is owned by PALJA Inc. or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. You may share images and readings the Service generates for you through the sharing features we provide, for personal, non-commercial purposes, with attribution intact. The saju tradition itself belongs to no one; Palja's particular expression of it belongs to us. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without restriction or compensation.

13. How readings are produced

Your chart is computed deterministically by Palja's own saju engine — the same inputs always produce the same pillars. Readings and other interpretive content are authored by our system on top of that chart: interpretation frameworks and editorial rules we wrote from traditional saju, with large language models assisting in phrasing the final text. Because of that assistance, a reading can be inaccurate, incomplete, or phrased in ways that don't fit your situation, and its wording may vary over time. Readings reflect a traditional symbolic system, not verified statements about any person (§4). We review and constrain how this content is produced, but we cannot guarantee any particular output.

14. Third-party services

The Service depends on third-party services — including authentication, payment processing, app-store distribution, push-notification delivery, analytics, and language-model providers — and may link to third-party sites. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. App-store purchases are additionally subject to Apple's or Google's terms.

15. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — including how we treat your birth details (private by default; never displayed publicly). The Privacy Policy is part of these Terms.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access — with notice where practicable — if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if providing the Service to you creates risk or is no longer commercially viable. We may also discontinue the Service or any feature. On termination, your license to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (including §§4, 6, 12, 17–20, 22) survive. If we terminate a paid subscription without cause, we will refund the prorated unused portion of what you prepaid.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY — INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE MAKE NO WARRANTY ABOUT THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR USEFULNESS OF ANY READING, SCORE, OR OTHER INTERPRETIVE CONTENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

18. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (a) PALJA INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY; AND (b) OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US $50 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THESE LIMITS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU; IN THAT CASE OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. YOU AND PALJA AGREE THAT THE SERVICE'S PRICING REFLECTS THIS ALLOCATION OF RISK.

19. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PALJA Inc. and its officers, employees, and agents from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from Your Content, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or of anyone's rights (including submitting another person's information without permission, §7), or your misuse of the Service.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence applies. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at support@palja.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve the dispute informally. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and both parties consent to their jurisdiction — except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and nothing here limits rights that mandatory local law gives consumers. To the extent permitted by law, both parties waive any right to a jury trial and agree that disputes will be brought individually, not as part of a class or representative action.

21. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will give you reasonable notice — for example, in the app or by email — before it takes effect. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you don't agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

22. Miscellaneous

These Terms (with the Privacy Policy and any terms shown at purchase) are the entire agreement between you and Palja about the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship. Notices to you may be given in the app or via the email on your account.
